Written for piano and SSAA choir.
While visiting and helping one of my sons, I heard, in the distance, some lovely music.
When I later went to see where it was coming from, I discovered that the former head of the Yavapai Junior College music department, after retiring, had developed a lovely choral group of about 16 or so women named Womansong. I further learned that they practiced at my son’s facility every Wednesday night during the school year.
When I mentioned to the director, Will Fisher, that I was attempting to write music, he asked if I had ever written for a four-part women’s group. I answered, “No,” and he encouraged me to give it a try. In light of that I have written a few numbers that he says he plans to use.
This is one of them.
It is basically an arrangement of one of my other pieces, How Firm Is Our Foundation. You will notice that I have changed the words from, “How Firm Is Our Foundation” to “How Firm Is THE Foundation.” I made this change because the makers of certain products used by women advertise their product as providing a “good foundation.”
